Mission San Luis Rey

In 4th grade the students here learn about the history of California.  A large part of that history is when the Spanish missionaries came and started the California missions.  Students used to have to visit some of those missions and do a report on them.  That is not a requirement anymore, but Kaycee desperately wanted to visit the Mission that is closest to us.  Mission San Luis Rey is in Oceanside.  At one time it was the largest Mission in California.  So we took a quick trip to visit it.  She had a great time walking through it and seeing how life was like at that time period!  Hands on learning is always the best!

April

Over Spring Break we had friends over:

Hiked Dripping Springs:

 Visited the mall:

Hung out with friends:

Went camping at San Elijo (where the kids did an Easter Egg hunt and got their faces painted)

and enjoyed 2 school free weeks! :)

March

March was a busy month!

 Kaycee dressed as a Mexican Senorita for her California Days.  She learned all about our state!

 Happy 10th Birthday Kaycee!

 Lauren and Sydney both got braces!  

Matthew's class took a field trip to Legoland!  

 They were able to build a car and race it.  Matthew and his friend Jacob had one of the fastest cars!

 After the lessons on friction and physics learned by building Lego cars, we got to go on some rides!

Gary took Lauren skiing!  They met with her friend and her Dad.

 Sydney, Kaycee and Matthew all started tennis lessons.

 Lauren started playing in the California Oaks Tennis League.  She played really well!

Gary took Lauren and Sydney to Indian Wells (just outside of Palm Springs) to watch the US Tennis Open.  They watched Roger Federer play!

 Sydney had her spring Composers Recital.  She played Arabesque by JF Burgmuller
