Spring Break 09

We stayed home this year. Here's what we did during our 2 weeks of spring break:

1) Had Kaycee's birthday party
2) Went mini golfing and to see the Tooth Fairy.
3) Went camping at Carlsbad Beach with our friends the Riveras
4) Celebrated Kaycee's actual birthday
5) Had 2 Dr. appts.--Lauren had to get SIX shots :(
6) Packed up and camped in the desert for Easter weekend
7) Celebrated Easter a day late
8) Had many many many sleep overs
9) Went on a marathon walk
10) BBQ ed with more cousins and G-pa
11) Went to Moonlight beach and met lots of cousins
12) Celebrated Gary's birthday
13) Started soccer with two games and pictures on Saturday

It was a fun 2 weeks!

The flowers are in full bloom! I've never seen so many flowers at the desert. Even where we rode, there were purple, white and yellow flowers all over.

Thanks to Kailtyn, I have pictures of our day at Moonlight beach! Despite the chilly water, the kids were in it most of the day. The only time they got out was to jump off the huge hill of sand right behind us!

BMX

Matthew just started racing BMX bikes. He's been having so much fun! He practices Monday nights and coming the races are Wednesdays. So far he's gotten 1 4th place, 1 1st place and 1 2nd place. The first time he raced, his pant legs got stuck in his bike. He was so mad! He got off the track and said "Mom, why did you make me wear these pants!" So we got him some real riding pants and he got 1st the next week! He's in the light blue, yellow and white.

March 2010

Onto March! Matthew started BMX racing. He loves it! His first race he came in 4th, because his pants got stuck in his bike. His 2nd race he came in 1st! Sydney had a piano recital and did a great job, the kids all did super on their report cards, Sydney got all A's! We celebrated Kaycee's birthday and started spring break.

Matthew got called up for knowing ALL his kindergarten words. It happened to be Dr. Seuss week, so all the kids were dressed up.


We got a great trip in at the desert. Matthew rode his dirt bike for the 1st time, and Lauren drove the razor.
Kaycee's birthday party! We did Kaycee's Spa this year. Lauren's friends came and did all the girls' hair, nails and make-up!
We ended the month, and started spring break with camping at Carlsbad beach. Our good friends the Rivera's invited us to come. It was a PERFECT day at the beach, sunny and warm. We had a great time with great friends, and also got to meet our cousins there that day!

February 2010

February was a busy month. It was Gary's Mom's 60th birthday party! We headed back to AZ to be with family for the big birthday dinner. The kids sang, and served dinner. The kids also made a face painting booth! The dinner happened to be on Sydney's birthday, so we sang to her also!


When we got back it was time for Sydney's party. She wanted a slumber party this year. It was lots of fun!

In school, Sydney got to participate in a program that teaches the kids all about California history. I learned a lot too!

January 2010

January started out this year with a whirlwind trip to AZ. Gary's Aunt Linda passed away the end of December, so we packed up and made a quick stop to Flagstaff to play in the snow. . .
Then we were so grateful to be able to attend Aunt Linda's funeral, and see cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents and friends.




When we got back from AZ, we got to work right away on our house. Gary ripped up all our carpet upstairs, and laid this wood. Doesn't it look great? We also repainted--and got some new furniture. I feel like we're in a new house!
Sydney received the Trailblazer of Success award the end of January for academic excellence. Great work Sydney!

Prepare

Mark your calenders. I will update my blog (hopefully) in one more week! I know your excited! The anticipation will probably drive you crazy! It'll be my quarterly update--chock-full of pictures and what we've been up to.
